Dog saves her pups from fire and puts them in a fire engine! [Pic]

Amanda captured the hearts of the city of Temuco, Chile after she rescued her five pups from a burning building and then placed them in the safety of a nearby fire engine. She could be seen moving back and forth between the house and the fire engine until all the pups were saved, each time putting her own life in danger as she braved the flames.

The mother and her pups were swiftly transported to a nearby veterinary practice where they were given treatment. Unfortunately one of the pups had suffered extensive burns and didn’t make it. The remaining four pups are in good health thanks to the bravery of their mother; Amanda.

Me do an NVQ? I don’t think so!

I have always done different jobs that have fitted in around my children, so when they were older, and I landed the job of receptionist at the Blue Cross I was very happy.

I had a lot to learn, but as I have always been good with people and enjoy talking to them, my new role was perfect.

When my manager asked me if I would like to do an NVQ in Customer Service, I said no, there was no way that I was going to make a fool of myself when I couldn’t do it I thought to myself, as visions of school came rushing into my head.

Eventually after a couple of years with my colleague’s encouragement and a little trepidation I finally said yes. I can honestly say that I am really glad that I did the course and am very proud of my certificate. The assessors are brilliant, always helpful and encouraging and there for you from start to finish.

I would definitely say go for it and add that qualification to your CV!

Peregrines Raise Chick in Condemned Glasgow Flats [Video]

A pair of peregrine falcons have successfully raised a chick in a condemned ‘Red Road’ high-rise housing complex in Glasgow. As the disruption of breeding birds is illegal, demolition had to be halted.

A joint effort by the Glasgow Housing Association and the demolition contractor to provide an alternative nesting box was unsuccessful as the birds stayed put in their 24th floor apartment.

Volunteers from the Raptor Group set up a remote research camera as an unobtrusive means of monitoring the birds. Although the chick has now already left the nest the pair will continue to provide for the fledgling for several weeks, after which they will normally leave the area and the demolition will resume.
