Overview

If you love dogs and dream of building a career that is hands-on, rewarding and full of variety, the City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate for Dog Grooming Assistants could be your perfect first step. Designed for aspiring groomers with little or no previous experience, this practical course gives you the opportunity to turn your passion for canine care into a professional skillset recognised across the industry.

Training takes place in fully equipped professional grooming salons alongside experienced grooming tutors helping you to build confidence with real dogs in a real salon environment from the very beginning. You will learn essential grooming techniques including bathing, drying, coat preparation, trimming, handling and salon health and safety, while also developing an understanding of breed characteristics, behaviour and professional practice.

We understand that starting a professional qualification can feel daunting, especially if you are returning to education or changing careers. That’s why our supportive teaching approach is focused on building confidence as well as competence. Many of our students begin the course unsure of their abilities and leave confident to begin work in the grooming industry.

What do our students say?

"The facilities are excellent, providing an environment where you are able to experience what it would be like working in a Grooming Parlour."

Chantel R

“The tutors and staff were always very helpful when I asked for help. The theory when learning about animals was very informative, and I particularly found the practical study in the grooming room invaluable experience.”

Tracey V

“Both the level 2 and 3 courses have been extremely helpful in building my knowledge and giving me the practical experience of dog grooming. The tutors are approachable and have encouraged me along the way, which has given me the confidence to set up and build my own dog grooming business."
